My Biography

I've spent my whole working life teaching and performing. Aged 16 I won a scholarship to the Royal Manchester College of Music (now the Royal Northern College of Music). I graduated four years later with a degree in singing and piano (GRSM) and Associate membership (ARMCM) of the Royal Manchester School of Music, a specialist diploma in the Art of Teaching Singing. Following this, I went to Manchester University to study for a Postgraduate Certificate of Education (PGCE).

After leaving full-time education, I taught singing for Manchester Education Authority in schools and adult piano in further education (FE). I then had two children and moved to Scotland, where I taught privately. Since returning from Scotland, I've taught in schools and colleges across the northwest of England and in private practice from my home in Sale. I also run a vocal group, the Sylvan Singers, that performs for local public and private events.
